"I am a working mum with three kids. I have no time for fitness. I have no time to cook healthy meals and I'm too tired to exercise."
I hear this a lot from my students, many working mothers just can't seem to find the time in their daily routines. Mothers are the ones who typically are in charge of the household, regardless of whether they work for a company or are able to stay at home. They are the ones who normally take care of all of the scheduling, meal planning, activities, etc.
First off BE the example for your children! If they see you are always sitting in front of a screen, they are more likely to do the same.super-mom

Here are some tips that may help you find time in your day to be healthy:
1. Build your workouts into your calendar. Often times, it's best to get your workout in before your day starts.

2. At Lunch take a walk or join a gym close to work and get a quick half hour in, Take a class or hire a trainer if you have no clue what to do once get in there.

3. A little movement goes a long way. Park your car a good distance from your work and walk the last bit, always take the stairsand if you sit all day try to get up and walk around every hour. If you are watching TV, during commercials, do some pushups, lunges, squats and/or planks.

4. If your child plays sports then use that time to get your workout in. Often practice sessions are held at local parks that have walking tracks.

5. No time to cook a healthy meal? Cook extra on the weekends. Prepare extra servings to be used throughout the week in different ways. Cut up fruit and veggies to save time or buy them pre-cut. Most supermarkets have a variety of prepared foods available. Stop on your way home from work and look for lean meats that don't come with sauces, steamed or lightly seasoned vegetables and whole grains such quinoa.

7. Pick an activity that motivates you and that you enjoy. You'll be more consistent and therefore, see better results.

8. Play with your kids after work. Get outside and play their sport with them, or go for a bike ride or walk. Heck, get the dog involved too. If you are a young mother, use your child to exercise. They enjoy bonding with you and you enjoy the benefit of their body weight.

9. Get a good night's sleep, so you have energy to get your workouts in.

10. Use your household chores as exercise. Dusting and hovering can surprisingly burn lots of calories. The trick is to keep moving!

REMEMBER exercise is a great form of stress relief and provides you with more energy, which can only help you be a better mother, wife, co-worker or boss! Make sure to never train to fatigue. Set goals for yourself to keep you motivated, but remember that goals are stepping-stones to the end outcome and life you truly want to lead. As a mother, you have the most important job of all. Don't be too hard on yourself, but do set an example for your family and do take the time to care of yourself first. Be healthy and strong, mind, body and soul!
